A Little Paint, A Lot of Love...
There's a special kind of magic that happens when people show up just to make something better — no fuss, no fanfare, just rolled-up sleeves and open hearts.
That's exactly what happened this summer when a group of volunteers spent a week giving our Children’s Wellness Center a fresh coat of paint. Brush by brush, wall by wall, they turned the space into something even brighter — because our kids deserve rooms that feel as full of love as the care they receive inside them.
For the children who come to the Wellness Center for therapy, checkups, and support along their developmental journeys, a warm and welcoming space isn't just nice to have — it's part of the healing. A cheerful color on the wall, a room that feels like it was made just for them — these little things add up to something big.
The days took on their own joyful rhythm. "Painting and working every day among friends and the Ubuntu team was joyful," shared volunteer Celeste Hope. "The energizing music played loud in the hallway, we all laughed and shared stories with every brush stroke, and the team always made sure we were doing okay and equipped with supplies. At the end of each day I felt fulfilled and ready for the next day's project."
It wasn't just the work that stayed with the group — it was each other. Volunteers arrived from different corners of the world as strangers and left as friends. "This group that came together from all different locations, from all over the world, were filled with so much positive energy and love that it was hard not to smile every day," Celeste said.
We are so deeply grateful to this volunteer group for pouring a full week of their time and energy into this project. This is what love in action looks like, and it's a beautiful reminder that you don't need a title or a job description to make a difference — just a willingness to show up.
"Don't have any hesitations," Celeste added. "Volunteering with ULF is life-changing and inspiring. You take home a priceless gift — a sense of renewed energy and fresh perspectives on life."
To everyone who picked up a paintbrush for our kids — thank you. “You” are the Tribe.
